In honor of Kobe Bryant’s recent retirement from the NBA, Adidas is releasing a Kobe “Vino” pack of wine-inspired sneakers. The theme of the pack is a play on Kobe’s nickname “Vino”, which was given to him because, like wine, he seemed to be getting better with age. The pack is comprised of four Kobe Adidas signature sneakers: Crazy 1, Crazy 8, Crazy ’97, and Top Ten. The sneakers have colorways based on red or white wine, and feature cork material, as well as a gold emblem on the tongue containing a Latin phrase and an image of grapes.
The Kobe Crazy 1 “Vino” has an all cork upper, burgundy merlot colored laces, toe, and midsole, a black rubber outsole, with hits of gold throughout the shoe. The tongue is black and has a gold emblem with the Latin phrase “La Vita Vissuta Plenamente”, which means “A life lived”.
The Kobe Crazy 8 “Vino” has a solid burgundy merlot colored upper made of nubuck-like material, a darker burgundy rubber midsole and outsole, and a cork tongue with a gold emblem containing the Latin word “Nascita” which means “Birth”.
The Kobe Crazy ’97 “Vino” seems to be inspired by a chilled bottle of white wine. The sneaker features a creamy chardonnay-white leather upper with drops of fake condensation all over, panels of cork material on the side, cream white laces, a silver midsole, a clear icy-blue outsole, and a cork tongue with a gold emblem containing the Latin word “Viaggio” which means “Journey”.
The Kobe Top Ten “Vino” features a half cork and half cream white upper embossed with a shimmering silver pattern, a cream white midsole and outsole, and a cork tongue with a gold emblem containing the Latin word “Trionfo” which means “Triumph”.
